Top 10 Best Water Heaters 2018

Buying Guide

Hot water heater supplies you with the hot water that you need to do just about anything. There are a number of different types of hot water heaters on the market, let’s take a little look at them, and hopefully decide which is best for your needs.

Best Water Heater

Firstly you need to realize that there are two main types of hot water heater out there.

  1. The most popular type by far is a ‘storage hot water heater’. This comes complete with a storage tank where the water is heated up inside. This is the cheapest type of hot water heater.
  2. You can also choose an ‘on demand hot water heater’ which does exactly what it says on the tin, it heats water on demand. As a result this means that you are going to be saving a considerable amount on your water bill, and of course you don’t need as much space to store it.

The downside is that they are slightly more expensive to purchase. Ideally you would look at the various options available to you before deciding which water heaters to purchase.

No matter what option you choose, you will need to decide whether you are going the ‘gas’ route or electrical route with your hot water heaters. In my experience, electrical heaters are easier to maintain, but gas heaters are more productive. Therefore the latter option may be best for a fairly large home, particularly if you choose a tank less gas water heater. You can also pick up solar powered water heaters nowadays, and this may be a viable option if you want to save even more energy.

The next step is to consider the size of your water heater. You will need to consider how much water you are going to be consuming. This will be based on the size of your home, and of course, the amount of outlets that the hot water will flow to. Here you should bear in mind that a storage tank will have a ‘storage capacity’, and an on demand hot water heater will have a flow rate. The flow rate is how much water can be heated up per minute. The higher the flow rate, the better.

Finally, you will need to choose the right hot water heater for your needs. There are a plethora of them out there online. It is best to rely on recommendations and stick to the top manufacturers. This will ensure that very little goes wrong with them, and if something does go wrong, you will have the spares within easy reach.

Hopefully this has given you a bit of an idea about the various hot water heaters out there. Obviously I couldn’t cover everything in depth, but as long as you follow just a few of the tips above you should be well on your way to choose the right water heater for your needs.
